Rwenzururu king, Charles Wesley Mumbere, has asked Jinja High Court to revise the bail terms attached to his release in February 2017.

Mumbere, together with the Kingdom Premier Thembo Kitsumbire and six juveniles, had appeared before the court in fulfillment of a condition that requires them to report to court every month.

According to the kingdom’s Attorney General, Alfred Makasi, the conditions that were attached to the bail are stringent to the parties involved.

Makasi adds that some bail terms like restricting Mumbere’s movement to three districts of Jinja, Wakiso and Kampala have to be revised and the king should have the liberty to freely move within other parts of the country. He added that the King should be allowed to access his subjects other than being restricted to lawyers, close relatives and Doctors.

Makasi equally wants the court to allow Mumbere to report to any court in Kampala, and the juveniles to report to courts within the Rwenzori region, instead of traveling to Jinja on a monthly basis. He says the journey to Jinja is financially constraining and time consuming.

The judge was not around to fix a date for hearing of their application and the grade one magistrate, Sumaya Kasule adjourned the matter to June, 21 2018.
