July 22: Uganda vs Namibia (Legends)
Aug 5: Uganda vs Zimbabwe (Legends)
The national rugby 15s side has been boosted by the return from injury of star winger Justin Kimono ahead of the first leg of the Elgon Cup against Kenya at Legends Grounds on June 10.
Kimono, 26, has been out of action for over 20 months and underwent two key knee surgeries on his right leg in November, 2015 and April 2016. While fit, Kimono was one of the most explosive players in Ugandan rugby.
On his return, the 2012 Uganda Sports Press Association rugby player of the year has so far impressed Uganda team coach Robert Seguya with his level of commitment after a long time out. “I am impressed by the way Justin (Kimono) is responding in training and during the trials,” Seguya said adding, “I am seeing him hitting the fitness mark for national selection.”
Uganda has six games in two months playing Senegal, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Kenya in a bid to keep their 1A status amd have a clear shot at World Cup qualification when Africa’s big boys battle next year with the exception of South Africa who already qualified as one of the top three teams from each pool in the 2015 Word Cup.
