The Old Budonians Club has announced the launch of a cutting-edge online business directory that will take place at the club’s Annual General Meeting and the Budofest 2017 on 29th April 2017.

The business directory is a techno-social and economic initiative of the Old Budonians Club which is the alumnae association of Budo Junior School and Kings College Budo. It is being developed by old budonians for the benefit of its members and the wider community.
The purpose of the directory is to create a network of participating vendors and suppliers connected to a targeted pool of top grade and discerning consumers within the Budonian fraternity and wider community in general.
Over the years, Budo Junior School and Kings College Budo like many other schools have produced a sizable crop of of eminent and illustrious citizens of Uganda, and in the process a pool of top grade, discerning and influential consumers. The directory will offer an excellent opportunity for any organisation, individual, business or brand to target and reach out to this niche in the market, economy and community.
The directory  will be available on a Web based portal and via a smartphone app. Users will be able to navigate, search and interrogate supplier information in the directory. It is also planned to have a ‘Job Centre’ facility in due course to bring together job seekers and potential employers.
The potential and capabilities of the directory will be demonstrated at its launch, which is due on Saturday 29th April 2017 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval during the ‘Budofest’ social event organised by the Old Budonians Club.
Besides the launch of the business directory, the ‘Budofest’ event is going to feature a host and variety of other social activities. It is expected to attract a large number of Old Budonians, friends, well wishers, and the public who have been invited to socialise, reunite, reminisce, chill out and network from 2pm to 10pm for a modest entry fee of 10,000 shillings.
There will be plenty of food and drinks to buy and enjoyment of live band music including stints by different generations of Old Budonian bands including Dr Ham Mukasa Mulira. Hope Mukasa, Dr. Allan Shonubi and Andrew Kasirye from Budo Club Band and  The Algorythms. The event has been co-sponsored by a number of organisations and sponsors including Events Warehouse, Fotogenix, VIVO Energy, Uganda Breweries, MoneyGram,  National Council of Sports and Uganda Cricket Association are also promoters for the event.

About Old Budonians Club

The Old Budonians’ Club is the alumnae association of Budo Junior School and Kings College Budo. The Club is a place where former King’s College Budo and Budo Junior Students can stay in touch, find out about upcoming reunions and other events, and even share memories.

The Old Budonian Association was formed in 1914 with the Kabaka as the patron, the president was to be “the headmaster of Budo, whoever he will be” The first secretary was Senseko W. Kulubya, at the time deputy speaker of the National Assembly, later Mayor of Kampala and for many years “Omuwanika” (treasurer) of the Buganda government.

The Association was renamed The United Budonian Association when  but even in the late 1960’s there remained a few former students then in their seventies who proudly distinguished themselves as “real” Old Budonians.

It is this club that later became Old Budonians’ Club as we know it today.
